Christmas Crafting

It finally happened! My friend Cheryl and I had a lovely evening of crafting together while watching some girly TV and drinking hot chocolate! I finished up a little project that I've been working on (i can't publish it 'til after the 25th of course) and Cheryl made her own WRAPPING PAPER!! It's so lovely!

Cheryl even said that she hadn't got her paint palette since being at school and doing A-level art. Clearly you should be getting it out more often my dear!

Potato Stamping!

Ho Ho Ho

The finished articles!

Also, my tulips!! I think they loved having the heating on. This morning it was cold so they were all closed up again.

The Christmassy feeling has started, so I may have to make some more things! Watch this space :)

For Christmassy Sale!!

I know, I know...... It's November, but aren't these cards cute? (If I may say so.....) I bought loads of red buttons online after I was inspired by some Christmas cards that I saw on pinterest.

They're all for sale, so let me know if you see anything that you like.  I'm working on a few personalised cards for some friends also, but I don't want to reveal them until I know that they have been handed out later in December. There are some funny ideas!!

I'll be sending a batch over to my Mum's shop when I can get to the post office. She has loads for your Christmas sewing projects in store. On her blog the quilters are full steam ahead with their Christmas projects ( www.angiequilts.blogspot.com ), so if you have a min, go check it out!

Some tell me I have a different sense of humour...

Happy Halloweeeeeeeeen!!!

We've been living in our lovely house for a year now! Last year all the kids in the neighbourhood came knocking on our door in their best and scariest costumes, but we had to turn them away as they had no tricks and we had no treats.

This year is different. He's been out to buy an abundance of sweets and chocolate. He also decided that this was the year that we would carve pumpkins! The thing is, I'm really not very good with a knife. In fact, I can imagine my mum reading this hoping that I wasn't the one doing the carving.... Don't worry Mother!! I just did the drawing xx

He's an Iron Maiden fan:

I'm a Wall-e fan (inspired by pictures we saw on Google):

My Uncle Bobby... and some other bits

Bobby is wood working again! He made this gorgeous pestle and mortar out of mahogany and filled it with coffee beans for a lovely scent around my house. You will be able to have a nosey at all his other lovely creations soon - I'll update when I can :)

I'm quite a fan of the smell of coffee beans, so Bobby's idea inspired me to make this yesterday:

A little coffee bean pouch

And these are some lilies that are doing very well... even though it's getting very cold very quickly - don't you think?

My friend Stacy

Quite a while ago I posted about an umbrella that I customised for my friend Stacy. She was able to give me a copy of a photo that was taken on the day - It looks lovely!!!

It's also her birthday on Monday, so I made her a birthday card (if you follow the "umbrella" link you'll see that she quite likes minnie mouse...!!)

Sunday Sewing

Today I made an "over-the-shoulder-but-also-bumbag" in preparation for a festival I'm going to this week. I've designed it so that it's a tight close, so nothing can go missing when I'm walking around (hopefully), and also made sure that the separate pocket is big enough for a festival essential ... my spare beer

Everything except the lining is recycled from an old Iron Maiden bag that "he" had when he was younger (I should've taken a "before" picture. Watch this space though, I'm hoping to use the Iron Maiden logo for something else). Fortunately for me, it's thick black denim, so this bag should be pretty sturdy and long lasting.
My dearest modelled it for me, so the "over-the-shoulder" way of wearing it looks a little out of proportion.. (also, the lining seems to be pulling funny faces in these pictures... It's definitely my bag!)

While I was visiting

I visited my mum over the weekend where I got to spend loads of time with her in her very own shop  (Angie's Patchwork and Quilting Shop). One of her ladies, Jean Bean, looks after the amazing flowers that she has outside. There is something new in bloom every time I visit, but this time these little beauties were out to play

One of my favourite things about visiting is that I get to use one of my mum's lovely sewing machines. She let me chose some fabrics, gave me a pattern and left me to my own devices! This was the result:

I also got to work on my skeleton man while I was there... It's going to take me a while and a lot of petals, but I'm already looking forward to the finished result!!

That may be a bottle of tequila....

...a few more bits and pieces

We were invited to celebrate with some friends on their Ruby Wedding anniversary recently and I wanted to share a picture of one of the cutest little cupcakes I have ever seen in my life! They were made by Kath, and they tasted gorgeous!!

I thought I'd also share some pictures of painting's that I've done in the past, purely because everything that I'm working on at the moment is TOP SECRET for a very special day coming up :)

This is Guinness the Dog - we wrote a song about him once!

A few bits and pieces

A lady at work asked if I could make a bridal aerial topper for her car for her wedding day (congratulations again if you're reading this!). She wanted a Minnie Mouse aerial topper with a veil and a tiara, but the internet couldn't provide what she was looking for. So, I volunteered my services. She ordered an "everyday Minnie Mouse aerial topper" (teehee!) and, with a little bit of glitter and a miniature veil, voila! Very cute me thinks!

The same lady was also looking around for someone who could spell out her name, her husbands name and the date that they were getting married on a heart shaped umbrella in black diamantés. Quite intrigued with how this would look (it sounded so cool!), and after we had a look at how much the bits an pieces needed cost from the trusty interweb, I asked if I could have a go!

Just to put into perspective what I was glueing to the umbrella

<----------------------------

And a few of these became this! (I asked for a picture of the umbrella on the day with the lovely bride and groom, so this won't be the last you see of this :D )

For my friend Cheryl's birthday, I made her a little pug purse... because she likes pugs...

Bunting for a bump!

A lovely lady called Rachel asked me to make some bunting to put in the nursery ready for the arrival of her baby. I absolutely adore what she and her hubby have done with the room!

Mum needed an advert

My mum needed an advert for her shop and she asked me to have a go at making one. She let me put my blog address at the bottom as well! Exciting!!

The design is inspired by this lady, Lucy.

Her blog is called Attic 24, just in case you fancied a look :) I absolutely love everything on her blog!

I might post a picture of it in the quilt show programme it's going to be in. Uttoxeter Quilt and Embroidery Show to be more precise, April 35, 26 & 27... 2014:)

Wall Painting Part 1

I haven't abandoned this just yet... :s

I've given myself a bigger project - a wall mural! I was getting a bit bored of the beige walls in the craft room, and I was being very indecisive of what colour to paint the room. So, I thought I'd paint it with all colours!  I was originally just going to paint a henna inspired design in brown on the wall... but realistically I was never going to stick to brown....

I've been painting a little bit after work each day, so definitely haven't been getting this one done as quickly as all my other little projects.
So... Step by Step so far!

To be continued... I wonder how much bigger it will get!
