Our Wedding Part 1 : Pink

One of the main things that we wanted on our wedding day was to have little bits and pieces throughout the day that reminded us of Debbie, my husband's mum. There are so many beautiful things that remind him of his mum, but the colour pink and honey bees are two symbols that the family has used to keep the memory of Debbie alive.

One of the things that I wanted to do in memory was to wear pink flowers in my hair, so I made some accessories using false fabric flowers and flower arranging wire. Once they were twisted into a shape that I could work with, I added a loop so that they could be pinned into my curls.

When we were planning our wedding favours for our guests, we originally wanted to use his sister's idea that she used at her wedding and gift everyone with Cancer Research UK pins which would act as a donation in their name to the charity. When brainstorming what else we could do, my quilter-mum stepped in and showed us little projects that her ladies had been working on in her very own shop ( Sue's Goodie Bags Workshop  ) - little packets and holders for bits and pieces that most of us use on a daily basis.

I loved the idea of making pink tissue packet holders that we could gift to the ladies at our wedding (not many men in my family would admit that they need a tissue in the case of "leaky eyes") so after browsing all of the lovely fabrics in her shop, we chose these:

My mum cut out all the pieces to make:

and then she and her helpers created these lovelies!!!

My mum and my Nan helped so much with all the crafting in preparation for the big day! I will share more of the projects soon!

Our Wedding

I plan over the next few weeks to update you all on all of the projects that my friends, family and I had been working on in preparation for His and my wedding day, on the 21st February 2015. At the moment, I'm getting back into the swing of things with my job, so today I give you a taster.

Enjoy! xx
