The Festival of Quilts (N.E.C. Birmingham 09/08/2015)

It was inspirational, the festival of quilts! I got to spend the day with my mum and ogle at some beautiful quilts, followed by a spot of shopping to add to the ever growing stash of fabric that I seem to be building. I may even consider attending again next year! (Depending on the line up for a certain festival that is!)

Note: I always thought my mum was crazy collecting fabrics from around the world just so that she could look at them - what was the point? But now, as I grow older and wiser (yes, wiser), I understand.

The Quilters of Mexico

One of my favourite things about this festival is that it includes work and stalls belonging to people all over the world. Of particular interest was the Quilters of Mexico, as we lived in Mexico City for a while. Mum was part of a quilters guild while we were there. It was nice to have a giggle at the exhibition, as it was based on common expressions of the country.

Alice in Wonderland

Another part of the exhibition was inspired by Alice in Wonderland. I might have a go at designing a bookmark like the ones below.

Other pieces that caught my eye around the exhibition:

Ocarina of Time

Quite a long time ago a friend asked me to paint some pictures relating to Zelda: Ocarina of Time, one of his favourite video games. After looking around the internet and at stills taken from game play, I produced these beauties!

I was inspired by the artists on deviant art, by official game art work and stills from the game.
